ANNUAL FUND DRIVE BEGINS

Annual Fund Drive mailers will be sent the week of 22-26 June. The annual fund drive is used for the operating expenses of the Department. This includes all the utilities, facilities maintenance and administrative expenses. Your contributions are vital to the success of the Department. Please contribute and continue the tradition of neighbors taking care of neighbors.

SUMMER SAFETY

Summer has finally arrived, and it is that time of year when we get out and about for summer fun. But remember, fun doesn't include a trip to the doctor's office or emergency room. A couple of friendly reminders to help you enjoy your summertime fun:

1.  Leave the fireworks to the professionals. Even the small stuff that  is legal in Pennsylvania can be dangerous.
2. Camp fires and bon fires can be fun, but quickly spread. Watch the weather and check you local burn ordinances.
3. Swimming is a great summer time event. Make sure you are authorized to swim in ponds and streams. Don't dive in water if you are not familiar with the pond or stream. And don't mix alcohol with swimming.
4. Wear plenty of sun screen. Sun burns are painful, and skin cancer is a rapidly growing disease that can affect anyone.

5. Trips through the woods and hiking are great summertime fun. Only go on trails and woods that are permitted. Make sure you know what poison looks like. Be alert for poisonous animals and insects.
